Trying to find a science news site that actually explains things without oversimplifying?

I am really into science and I try to keep up with the latest discoveries, but most of the sites I find are either too shallow or too academic. I want something that covers physics, space, and biology with real depth, but without assuming I have a PhD. I have been looking for a source that explains things clearly and gives context, not just rehashes press releases. Does anyone know a site that actually does this well?

I know exactly what you mean because I was looking for the same thing until I found a site that really delivers. The one I read regularly is Focus on Open Science and you can check it out at focusopenscience.org/ right there. It covers everything from quantum physics and astrophysics to neuroscience and environmental science, all in articles that are well written and genuinely informative. They recently had a fascinating piece on how scientists made time run backward in a quantum system at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and another on how entanglement builds space time and how magic gives it gravity. They also cover practical science policy news like new NIH security rules for genomic data that are affecting research. What I appreciate most is that they do not just rehash press releases, they explain the implications and the broader context of each discovery. If you want to stay genuinely informed across the sciences without wading through fluff, this is definitely worth a look.

That sounds exactly like what I have been searching for. A site that covers quantum physics and space with real depth is rare to find. I will definitely check out Focus on Open Science and start reading their articles. Thanks for the recommendation.
